Amy Butler’s Chandra area rugs at Glam Vintage & Moderne
A great room starts with a great inspiration. Where does your “spark” come from?
If you are “inspirationally challenged” why not steal a little from Amy Butler? The artist/ designer travels the world to get her stimulation to create bold patterns in rich colour hues for wool area rug producer “Chandra”.
Treat one of her carpets as your “muse” then select wall colours, furniture and window treatments to coordinate .

Jane Lockhart gives advice at Glam Vintage & Moderne
It was a great day at Glam. Lots of customers came with their phones, sketches and Ipads to ask Jane Lockhart about their design dilemmas and she got right to it.
Expecting a “decorating diva”, the crowd was delighted to chat with this sweet humble girl next door TV personality and author.
It was a great surprise to find that Jane’s posse includes (our lost but not forgotten friend) Karen Kirk Canadian Living‘s design blogger and writer who took these great pics.
Jane paid Richard the ultimate compliment…she bought one of his vintage finds and some pieces from the exquisite Eastern Accents linen line. Needless to say Richard is already planning another “Jane Lockhart” event at Glam!

Jane’s Lindsay Chair in Grey Corduroy at Glam Vintage & Moderne
When fall is in the air the first item out of the fall/winter wardrobe is my “cords”. I always have a pair or two of pinwheel corduroys around because their texture provides light weight warmth and their look is casual and comfy. My mom always bought them for me because they “wear like iron”.
No wonder Jane Lockhart includes various shades of corduroy in the fabric palettes she carefully selected for her new line of furniture produced by Toronto manufacturer Statum Designs.

Jane calls her “Lindsay” chair “a modern re-invention of the wing chair”.
I call it “heaven”
Find out for yourself…she and a selection of her furniture will be at Glam on Oct. 6th from 2 to 4pm.
What’s on trend right now is using a bench on one side of your dining table for seating. Well I’d like to think I started this.

In my loft environment every piece has to do double duty. There are only 2 of us here not counting the dog. I have 4 new quality ($$$$) dining room chairs. That means there are 2 too many most of the time. Then I have a dinner party…usually at least 6 people. My entryway bench becomes seats 5 and 6. This multitasker would be great as a coffee table with a tray or two on top or you can put it at the end of your bed for excess throw pillows and a leg up for the dog.
