No mom really wants things that aren’t a little frivolous or somewhat decadent. After all it’s Mother’s Day. It’s time to spoil her. Lay it on thick because during the rest of the year you might forget to show her how much you care. Here’s a good excuse to go above and beyond and keep your good standing on the baked goods recipient list.
Say it with decor accessories. Punctuate her living space with one of springs on trend colours like teal or orange.
Let the other siblings buy the ubiquitous flowers and chocolate while you dazzle her with lasting fun decor accessories to ensure “mom always likes you best“.
During the winter our decorating drifts towards sumptuous fabrics, heavy woods and jewel tones. During this particularly horrendous winter in North America, record numbers are suffering from Seasonal Affective Disorder or at the very least “cabin fever”.
By staring into light filled chambers we can trick our brain out of depression. It follows then that by “lightening up” our interior surroundings we may raise our spirits and give ourselves a “lift”.
Replace that heavy coffee table with an airy basket weave ottoman and or side table.
Change out the pillows on your sofa to the new on trend spring tones of mustard yellow,bottle green, coral or teal. If you are bent on staring into a bright light for treatment how about getting one with a colourful base, like the green one pictured below??

I’ll tell you why it’s “teal time”. Rich blue/green teal is “on trend” now AND it works in holiday decor. It’s a bright pop that isn’t orange but looks great with it. It’s green side has the hue of a shiny emerald. Using teal in your decor creates a retro look from the 1950’s and 60’s when interior designers were mad for it.
