Bistro Time

Bistro look insideIt’s summer…or is it?  You’ve probably got plans to sit on the patio sipping margaritas today.  But if the weather should take a turn for the worse and it’s too cold  or windy to go outside why not feel the season inside by setting up a bistro table with counter height stools near a window?   Sitting at bistro height gives you that special festive atmosphere without actually having go “out”.  It elevates your mood even before your first drink.

The faux driftwood grey grain on the ample hexagonal table top below works easily with 4 chairs and will not leave telltale rings after the party is over.  The hand forged iron base has the old world craftmanship which says authentic “French Bistro”.

Glimmering Guest Proof Coffee Table

Cabriole Coffee Table

Vintage Styled cabriolet Coffee Table at Glam Vintage & Moderne

According to Style at Home in an article called “Size matters“, “the standard height for coffee tables is from 16 to 18 inches, but may go as high as 21 inches. A higher table is a smart choice if you entertain frequently so that guests don’t have to bend too much to set down their drinks”

I knew there was a reason I prefer taller coffee tables.

This one is large and high but because of the combination of bevelled glass with gilded walnut and antique metal finishes, it doesn’t appear to take up much space.  When the party heats up you’ll be glad to know that this glass top is double tempered in case wobbly guests bend down too much or just drop from a standing position.

Vintage Styled Adjustable Lamps

Vintage Styles Scissor Lamp at Glam Vintage & Moderne

Richard brought this stunning lamp in a while ago but unfortunately the photographer (moi) couldn’t get a good shot so finally Richard took this “acceptable” one.  I love its unusual copper/brown translucent metal shade.  The weighty antiqued bronze retractable “scissor” base makes it perfect for a desk or a bedside table.  It’s rather handy to bring the lamp closer so you don’t miss a single word of the “fine print” in that document/trashy novel.

Vintage Styled Mica Shaded Floor Lamp at Glam Vintage & Moderne

Here’s another vintage styled adjustable.  This is done in “aged black metal” accented with solid wood details. The drum shade is made of natural Mica to complete the “arts and crafts” look.

The wire connecting to the shade even has that vintage look fabric covering…though this one won’t fray and leave dodgy live wires like a true vintage piece.

Use this over your favourite reading chair/sofa or hang directly over an occasional table or someone you are interrogating.
